Why Have A Magician?
The right magician will raise the energy and provide a vibrancy and excitement that will last long after your event is over. As something most of your guests may have seen on TV but never experienced the right magician will instantly raise your event and make it special.
“Danny is lovely and so good. All of the guests were wowed by his tricks and have been asking for his card to book him for their parties.” Lorraine Frederick
“Danny came to entertain at our party and blew everyone away!! Well…let me tell you…his videos don’t do him justice!! He’s funny and warm and soooo talented! Worth every penny and more. He was my favourite part of my own party! 5″ – Brooke Silar
How To Read Reviews
The person you need should have at least 50 reviews, a good number recent but also some going back several years.
Personality matters.
People often ask “what tricks do you do?” but rarely “how entertaining are you?”
When reading reviews also look for words that describe the person. Words like “Lovely”, “Nice”, “Fun”, “Funny”, “Entertaining” and “Interactive” tells you how well they connect with the audience. You can read mine here
Check LinkedIn recommendations. These are for corporate events and a good performer should have been hired by the same person more than once (this doesn’t tend to happen for weddings)!
“We at Forza Doors have had the pleasure of working with Danny at Red Hat Magic on four separate occasions, and each time he has exceeded our expectations.” James Taylor
Video and Photographs
A professional experienced magician can be expected to have video footage some of it professionally shot and some taken on a phone at an event. Both are good. What you want to see are reactions. A magician performing a trick to camera is not an indicator of their ability to banter and connect.
There should also be a number of photographs, again a mix of professional and amateur. Fewer photographs is indicative of lack of experience.
Putting You First
Your supplier should put you first and your event first – not their bank balance. Listening to you and your goals and helping you realise them leading you to a superb end result.
This is most easily achieved by a telephone call. “I want a magician for x hours” might not be the best approach. Consider “what would you recommend for me to achieve this goal…”
For example I quite regularly hear “I would like 3 hours, there are 10 of us”. Whilst that is possible (magic before the meal, between courses and a show after) mostly an hour would be ample… and better value.
Don't Choose Cheap, Choose Value
There’s nothing more expensive than a cheap magician.
The wrong magician will undermine all your other party efforts. Red Hat Magic will provide enormous value to your event. You are buying skill, experience and commitment… and if you divide the cost by the number of guests you’ll realise it’s incredible value.
