I was extraordinarily privileged at today’s party to meet Andy a truly extraordinary gentleman who 8 years ago, aged 41, suffered a brain haemorrhage. He had to learn to talk, he had to learn to walk and at times he nearly gave up. Today, 8 years later, he is walking, talking, has his own place and is looking forward to celebrating his 50th birthday. His mental strength is an example to us all and he’s a lovely guy too. I once sat in a restaurant and had a perfectly nice but very ordinary onion soup while the person at the table next to me was going into raptures over the self same soup. Honestly it was like a scene from "When Harry Met Sally"! I often think of that guy when I "find someone's card" and they go nuts. Even a semi-competent magician should be able to do as much. But if on the other hand the magician sets themselves on fire (as I do) and turns it into ice - Now THAT is different, magical and memorable. And if they are engaging and funny too...
